Thresholds is an initiative funded by the Ministry of Community and Social Services that focuses on helping young adults with developmental disabilities to make a successful transition from school to a wide range of community activities and work. It accomplishes this by providing supports to strengthen community involvement skills and opportunities to experience various options leading to informed choices about life directions.
Five Leeds and Grenville service agencies deliver the project: Career Services of Brockville, Developmental Services of Leeds and Grenville, Brockville and District Association for Community Involvement, Community Living North Grenville, and Gananoque and District Association for Community Living. Representatives of each agency form the Steering Committee in addition to partners from the Upper Canada District School Board and the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario. The partnership with the school boards encourages good transition planning before students leave the education system.
If you enrol for this program with Career Services you will receive an introduction to work expectations, training in work skills, and opportunities to explore work interests. Work placements occur either within Career Services' industry or with community employers and can lead to volunteer work and/or employment. If it is required, job coaching services can be provided.
Making it happen for over 35 years.
